Project Goal:

Overall goal of the Avert Project is to support Government of India to reduce the negative impact of HIV/AIDS epidemic on the social, economic & human development in India. This goal is in accordance with the NACP-II dual goals of reducing the spread of HIV infection in the country and strengthening the country's response to HIV/AIDS on a long-term basis.

 

Strategic Objective:

Increased use of effective and sustainable responses to reduce the transmission and mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS/STD and related infectious diseases in Maharashtra.

 

Design:

Based on AIDS Prevention and Control Project (APAC) in Tamil Nadu.

 

Mandate:

Targeted interventions in seven high prevalence districts of Maharashtra State. In addition, Communications, Care & Support Activities, Workplace Intervention and Research in entire State of Maharashtra.
