On March 7, a team of delegates from USAID which included Ms. Lisa Gomer- General Counsel, Ms. Patricia Ramsey-RLA, Dr. Sampath V. Kumar- Project Management Specialist, Ms. Tanu Chhabra- Communications Specialist, Mr. Aaron Schubert - Health Development Officer and Ms. Ky Lam, Health Development Officer visited Avert supported NGO projects in Mumbai. The team visited Committed Communities Development Trust (CCDT) – Ashray OVC project. The visit emphasized on the importance of such projects to improve the quality of life of the Orphan & vulnerable children. It also focused on the sustainability of the program through family integration, adoption, vocational trainings, Life Skill Education and Exposure visits. Thereafter the USAID team visited the Udaan project where program activities and outcomes of the project were presented. In addition, the program also informed about the advocacy activities undertaken and referral linkages developed for PLHIVs to the Government schemes. Then a brief visit was made to Humsafar Trust where the team was oriented about the inception and progress of HST.
