Screening And Diagnosis

HIV testing is carried out on a voluntary basis with appropriate pre-test and post-test counselling. HIV is diagnosed by testing your blood for the presence of antibodies to the virus.

Most often, a simple blood test known as an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) screening test is conducted. The results of HIV tests are kept confidential.

For further information on screening and diagnosis, please refer to the NACO website at www.nacoonline.org
